From 6 to 7

Ethan finished First Grade this year. Besides staying all day ("6-1/2 hours, Mom!"), he learned how to listen for the correct bell to come in from recess ("It's the first bell, not the second."), how to share the playground with more than one grade, and how to choose hot lunch vs cold lunch. (Regarding lunch: he can't stand any of the turkey roast/chicken fried steak/mashed potatoes/gravy lunch; he thinks the school's turkey sandwich and their beef-a-roni is yucky. He's got an awesome thermos and he loves to take spagetti, chicken dinos, meatballs and BBQ sauce from home.)

First day of school. Notice the complete smile of baby teeth.

Ethan and Mrs. Maher on the last day of school. Notice the two big front teeth. (How glad am I that we had family pictures taken in September? Takes a while to grow into those big chompers.)

I'm particularly proud of my 7-year-old and his enthusiastic attitude towards learning, his innate desire to follow rules, his love of making friends, his lack of guile and his ready laugh. I'm honored to be his mom.
